Companionship
and Socialization for Older Seniors
Palm Beach County, Florida
An
Elder Friend is uniquely suited
to be an ideal companion
to the older adult. They offer daily activity planning
as well as day to day assistance with transportation,
shopping, meal planning, and routine appointments. Our
caring companions can be special friends to share the
highs and lows of daily life. They offer guidance and
support to maximize the elder’s independence. Elder
Friends may be male or female and are chosen to meet the
needs of each individual client. They are flexible with
their time and can adjust their schedules to meet the
unexpected. For those Seniors who are experiencing
difficulties managing their household, the friend can be
the extra support that makes a difference.
Our Friends
are trained
by a Gerontologist/Care manager and RN Care Manager to
understand specific aging issues and are comfortable
working with clients with mild dementia.
Elder Friends provide companionship
in
private homes, apartments, senior residences, assisted
living facilities, and nursing
homes. Elders are more likely to participate in
community activities due to the direction and support a
"Friend" provides. The unique relationship that
develops makes holidays and special occasions still seem
important, even though family may be far away. A birthday
should always be a special day!
Elder
Friends researches
and provides access to community events which are
entertaining and culturally enriching.* Our
“Friends” are provided with appropriate information and
resources to insure that each client has the opportunity
to continue to be engaged in local activities they have
enjoyed in the past.
Elder Friends does not provide medical services. Our
Friends are NOT home health aides or certified nursing
assistants. Our clients do not require nor should they
expect any “hands on care.” We are registered by the
State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration
as a Homemaker/ Companion Registry.
*
Friends provide transportation or may drive a client’s
car. There is a charge for mileage when they use their
own vehicle.
